Types of Mold

Mold can come in all shapes and sizes. If you find mold in your home, you should call us immediately so we can properly remove it. There are many types of mold but the most common mold found in homes are Cladosporium, Penicillium, Alternaria, and Aspergillus.

Cladosporium can grow on fabrics such as carpet and wood surfaces such as cabinets. This mold can cause different types of respiratory and allergy problems. It is usually olive green to brown or black in color.

Penicillium can be found on materials that have had water damage such as carpet, insulation, furniture, walls, etc. This mold can spread quickly throughout the house. It can cause allergic reactions, chronic sinus infections, and inflammation of the lungs. It usually is blueish green in color.

Alternaria is found in damp places when indoors such as showers, sinks, leaky pipes, and homes that have suffered water damage. It can also spread very easily throughout the home. It can cause allergic reactions and asthma attacks.

Aspergillus is commonly found indoors. It can cause allergic reactions, respiratory problems, and hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
